VULTURE GEAR (2015–2019)

Vulture Gear began as my senior thesis in college with a series of handmade hats. After graduation I launched a business with the help of my partner and began selling in local craft fairs and online through Shopify and Etsy. The business officially closed at the end of 2019, but we learned a lot through the process of creating products, taking product photography, running a company social media and website, and vending at shows.

Vulture Gear started with handmade hats and moved on to handmade sketchbooks. These sketchbooks were sewn with a French link stitch binding made with Greenfield Paper Company’s Hemp Heritage Drawing Paper and the cover was made with Vulture Gear’s designs printed on Spoonflower wallpaper. The final product was a lay-flat sketchbook with thick paper so the artist could use pencils, markers, watercolors, and every medium in between.

After making books Vulture Gear added handmade tote bags and carry all pouches to their product line in three different patterns. All fabric used for making the bags was canvas fabric printed by Spoonflower.

In a collaboration between myself and my partner, Vulture Gear released a series of embroidered hats and printed shirts and bags fulfilled by Printful. I turned my partner’s drawing into patterns and sold them through Shopify and Etsy, along with their handmade products.

As well as selling online, Vulture Gear was featured in numerous craft shows in Asheville, NC from 2017–2019.
